YouTube clipping guides
Get the part you need, in the format you need. Start with a walkthrough, or go straight to the export question you want answered.
Start with your video
These walkthroughs cover selecting a moment, checking the range and downloading the result. Use only videos you own or have permission to download and use.
- How to clip a YouTube video by time range
To clip part of a YouTube video, paste its URL into Clipyt, set the start and end time, choose sound and file format, then download the selected range. You choose the moment; no editing timeline is needed.
- How to clip a YouTube Short precisely
To clip a YouTube Short, open Shorts mode, paste its URL and set your start and end time. Download that section, or choose the full-Short action when you need the complete source. The preview stays vertical.
Get the export right
A share link and a downloaded file solve different problems. These guides explain that difference, which container to choose and how to leave sound out of an export.
- A YouTube Clip link or a downloaded file?
Use YouTube's native Clip feature to share a moment as a link. Use a selected-range export when you need an MP4 or MOV file for a permitted editing workflow. They are different outputs, not interchangeable buttons.
- MP4 or MOV for your YouTube clip?
Start with MP4 unless your next app or editing workflow asks for MOV. Both are video containers, not quality settings: choosing MOV does not add detail to the source.
- How to clip a YouTube video without sound
Set your video range, choose No sound in Clipyt and export as MP4 or MOV. That removes audio from the downloaded clip; muting the preview alone does not change the export.
